Doggie Drama!

You'd think I'd have more to write about than doggie drama!

I do, but . . . . . the pictures were too priceless!

Am I a bad Doggie Momma to laugh at my silly looking pooch?

Yes, that is 'the collar of shame'!!! We think it looks like Maggie is going swimming! Maggie is sporting her new fashion accessory to stop her devious tongue from licking her boo-boo!

And now the rest of the story!!! (did I sound just like Paul Harvey in your head like I do in my head?)

I was being a lazy dog momma yesterday, and instead of bathing Miss Maggie in the tubby, like I usually do, I decided to pamper her (and me) and take her out to be bathed and groomed. (pampers me cause i'm not covered with dog fur and i have a few extra hours to do all those thousand of things i really should be doing) I dropped her off and was to pick her up in a few hours later. I run errands and mid way thru that, I get a call from the groomers. MAGGIE HAS HAD AN ACCIDENT! They were taking her out of the kennel to go bathe her and one of her nails got stuck in the grate on the floor and it ripped it off way too low. They took her to the Vet next door and were sedating her, to work on her paw. It ripped off almost to the bone! That evening I pick up my poor poochie from the vet. She has a bandage on her paw, that can't get wet, hence the nice plastic baggie over her bandage. And she gets to take yummy liver flavored pain pills for her achy paw twice a day.
She had been home less than 14 hours and taken her bandage off 3 times. We'd reapplied her bandage 3 times. That's when I decided she had to have 'the collar of shame' or I was going to spend my whole day reapplying her doggie bandage!!!! (Which would seriously make me CRAZY!!!!) I called the various grooming and vet office and was able to get a collar for Maggie. On the way there, to fit Miss Maggie's giant neck she took the bandage off again!!! While there I tried to get them to re-bandage her boo-boo, the DOG-TOR looked at it and decided that it had stopped bleeding enough and we didn't need to keep a bandage on it. But we did need to keep her from licking her boo-boo. So Maggie is a collar wearer now!
Had to get a shot of her boo-boo toe. OUCH!!!! MAGGIE IS SUCH A DOGGIE TROOPER!
After a day of craziness, I think Maggie is glad to be at home, even if she has to wear 'the collar of shame'. I bet our groomer never wants to hear Maggie's name again. I was reimbursed money for her grooming (since it actually never happened, . . . yep i still have a stinky dog!). And the Grooming place paid for her vet visit, meds, and the lovely collar!

All I wanted was a dog who didn't smell, and had trimmed nails!

Life is NEVER what you expect!!!

Oh my, What a crazy day! Your story solidifies (sp?) why I don't want any pets! There's too much to do with them! Half the time I feel overwhelmed with the kids, how do you do it all???

Poor Maggie! I'm with Nicole on the pets.... At least she doesn't have to wear a big white cone, like the dogs on Clifford!

POOR, POOR, MAGGIE! POOR, POOR, POOR YOU! I understand your frustrations. I have been there. Glad to hear your groomer stepped up though.
