Last Friday morning we headed down to Florance, Oregon to camp and explore someplace new. We camped at Honeyman State Park. It was great! We recommend the campground. It is very large, with lots of trees, and 2-3 lakes in the park. The sand dunes are right there! There is no direct access to the beach, but just a short drive. Unless you'd like to hike though the dunes for a few miles! Great trails to hike or bike! (we want to bring our bikes next time!) At one of the lakes they rent paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks. We all fit onto one paddle boat and had a great time! It was quite the workout paddling around the lake. As you can see from the slideshow we also played at the beach. It was normal oregon coast weather, and we had fun playing in the sand and trying not to get too wet! That didn't work out that well! All the boys were drenched by the time we headed to roll down the dunes. Needless to say, they were sand monsters!!!
Blake loves to camp and fixed us a great dinner and the smores around the campfire was fun! I know you should roast marshmallows on the coals, but we are just too impatient! Everyone slept well in our giant tent. i think next time we might invest in a air mattress! Oh my aching back! for lunch we followed our family tradition of lunch at Moe's! Yummy clam chowder!!!! We had a really fun time just hanging around, hiking, exploring and just enjoying the last bits of summer with our family!

I went to Honeyman YEARS ago. I remember that we did hike across the sand dunes to the beach. Coming from Idaho, I thought it was so cool to find the ocean after that long walk. Lots of fun!

We just got back from our ward camp out and it was so much fun...not as much fun as camping at the beach, sometimes I miss Calif. It looks like you guys had loads of fun. We have an air matress and it really does make a difference for all us old people. LOL Love you guys!!
