I love my yard! I have two large blueberry bushes (taller than our fence) that we inherited from Blake's parents yard. I have often said that those bushes were the best present they have ever given us! I love blueberries! It's in my genes! My dad loved blueberries as well, every year on his birthday he would have a blueberry pie! Now, blueberry pie is not my favorite pie, but fresh blueberries are to die for!!! I love walking out in my yard in the morning and picking a bowl of berries and making muffins or pancakes! Throw them in any fruit salad, or just to eat them while we hang out in the yard playing with the kids. I love even more, picking and freezing them and then having yummy breakfast treats all winter long!

Now maybe the bushes are naked sticks during the winter, but they are beautiful spring, summer and fall. And I love the fact that they produce food!!! Two years ago we had a few birds eating our berries for us. I was not happy. So last year I put netting over them. Boy, was that a pain to pick through or under or however we managed to pick them! This year, I didn't use netting and just hoped for the best. I have seen one or two birds so far, not the flocks that would come in years past. Yes, I know the birds need to eat too! But about blueberries I am selfish! Birds go eat your Worms!!!
I mentioned that blueberries were my dad's favorite! As I picked berries this morning for muffins I thought about my Dad. It has almost been two years since he passed away. I am grateful for a silly blueberry bush that takes me back in time and lets me think of my dad, the man he was, and how he has blessed my life. I will always love blueberries, not just cause they are delicious, but for the memories they bring me of my Father! There has to be blueberries in heaven! Enjoy them Dad!

I miss blueberries! We have to bury our trampoline pit so maybe I will plant some blueberry bushes there. The kids won't be able to jump on them but we would enjoy eating them!!
I just bought some blueberries, love them in pancakes, muffins and pies. Thanks for helping all of us remember Dad! Love you!

It is so great that you have something that reminds you of your dad. I think that is so sweet.
