Happy Birthday Caleb!

The 8th we celebrated Caleb's 5th birthday! It is hard to believe that he is 5! Where does the time goes?! Weren't we just taking him home from the hospital? Wasn't he just learning to walk? He is still the sweet boy he has always been, just bigger and a bit of an attitude starting!

The Saturday before his birthday, we took Caleb to Build-a-Bear, to . . . build-a-bear as his birthday present. He named his bear 'Joe' and chose star wars jammies for his new buddy. Caleb loves his new friend, but don't try to get him to sleep with Joe! There is no having that! Caleb is the one kid in our family that wants nothing but blankets when he is sleeping! There can't even be anything else on his bed, for him to go to sleep!Caleb's actual birthday was, well, eventful?!?
Ryan and Caleb were jumping on the trampoline when Ryan's knee and Caleb's mouth collided! OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!!! You know the drill, lots of blood, crying, and ice. I had been making dinner, that came to a stop! I took care for Caleb and got him settled with some ice in front of a show, when my father-in-law shows up for dinner (we'd invited him to join us for Caleb's birthday dinner). I finish making dinner and get it in the oven. Blake gets home from work and the dentist went to work! Calebs two front teeth had been pushed, shoved, jammed backwards. His gums were cut up. Not to mention his front top lip being all swollen! Caleb kept saying "this is the worst birthday ever!" He tried to eat his special birthday dinner, but that was kinda hard. I think the ice cream and cake was easier to eat!We put a big 5 on caleb's cake. That is how it looked before Grace got a hold of it.(Why did we take a picture if the candle? Who knows what goes on in the mind of our photographer Emily! but it sure helps with the story!)And here it is after Grace got a hold if it! She asked to see the candle, we thought she wanted to lick the frosting off of it. But then lovely little Grace takes a chompy bite out of the bottom! She chew's it up, but of course it doesn't taste that good so she starts spitting it out on the table! Which is when we notice what she has done!!! Love that Grace Girl! We were thinking that when we called it a Candle, she mistook it for Candy!? Unless she has a strange desire to eat wax!!! Who knows!!!

The next day Caleb woke up to his lip really swollen! He is our cute Caleb with a boo boo lip! His lip was seriously an inch thick or more! It was blackish purple on the inside and it is hard to tell in the picture, but he was bruised all the way from his lip, up the sides of his nose all the way to his eyes! Blake had to sand down his front teeth so he could chew. We were afraid he would loose both front teeth, but so far they are staying! A bit dark, but still there! One change in Caleb, would be a slight lisp in his speach. 'S' doesn't sound the same as it use to!

Since Caleb turned '5' I thought I'd list 5 random things about Caleb!
1. Caleb's favorite color is Purple! He loves to say it in Spanish!
2. Caleb always has to say his night time personal prayers. If we forget, he will stay in bed and just cry until we hear him, then we'll say his prayers with him and he'll go right to sleep.
3. He loves to cuddle and read books with his mom!
4. He is quite and shy in public, unless you give him a microphone, then he becomes a PERFORMER!
5. Caleb has a great, contagious laugh! He makes us laugh!

We love our Caleb so much!!! He is a joy in our lives and we couldn't imagine life without his sweet face! Happy Birthday Caleb!!! We'll always remember this birthday!!!

That poor little lip! I am glad to know that Grace was smart enough to spit the candle out-yuck.

Miss you guys!
