Yes, I have said it. Maybe now I can reign in my addiction. I was passing McDonald's today and they had that deal 2 big mac's for $3.oo! Secret fact: I love big mac's! I thought hey, I haven't been out to eat for a while, I deserve a treat, and it is such a good deal! I couldn't pass it up. I bought 2 and a happy meal for the kids to share. We got home and I started eating my luscious big mac, turned over the container and realized they had all the nutritional facts listed. One big mac is 540 calories! I was beyond shocked! I like to eat in the dark with no knowledge of how many calories I am consuming. So, at that point I was like there is no way I, with this knowledge, can eat both big mac's. That would be way more calories than I should have for just lunch. So then the guilt started in (like it hadn't already, I should not have even gone to McDonald's there is plenty of good food at home!) I thought maybe the kids could help we eat the second one? No, they haven't even finished their 1/2 of cheeseburger! I called Blake to see if he wanted to come home for lunch and eat my extra big mac. No go, he was busy working plus he really doesn't like big mac's. I told him that maybe I'd just save it until tomorrow and have it for lunch then. He informed me that day old burgers are just plain gross (especially McDonald's). But coming from a family where you ate what you were served and all of it till your plate was clean as a whistle, I had a delema. I thought about calling a friend to see if they would want it, but how could I in good conscience give someone something that was crazy in the calorie department. I felt guilty. I have Food Guilt! I couldn't just throw away money, which in my mind is what I would be doing if I just thru the big mac away.
I won't tell you what I have done. Just know that I will not be buying anymore big mac's for quite a while!

Yum! Next time Sarah, call me! I'll eat the Big Mac all 540 calories!
I LOVE your stories!
Its even more sick and wrong that 2 hours after Sarah called to ask me if I wanted her extra burger, I finally broke down and decided to get some lunch. All I could think about was the stupid Big Mac 2 for $3 deal. I left the office to go get something and came back with...yes..Big Macs...Needless to say I haven't been to McDonalds in a while and now I don't plan on returning for a LONG TIME...Fast Food Nation anyone?
Yuck on the Big Mack...but yum on their Cheeseburgers!
I'm with Julie...actually, yuck on McDonald's. But I too, am addicted to food. Taco Bell, anyone?
So, in Utah I bought this book called Eat This, Not that. Here's what it said about Big Mac's: Yes, Big Mac's have 540 Cal and 29 gr of Fat, but..... Whopper with cheese is 750 Cal and 47 gr of fat! You picked better! Eat one less bread, wipe off a little special sauce and you've deleated some Cal and fat. Something else to think about... If your suppose to east 2000 Cal a day, you only ate 1/4 of your days intake and with the fat it will help you feel fuller. I love Big Mac's too. Go ahead eat one. Every once in a while it's OK!
you story has inspired me:) no more big macs!

ROFLOL at this one Sarah!!! You are so awesome!! I too was raised with the you eat what you take mentality...I do NOT do this to my kids, simply because I now have no idea how to stop eating when I am full. But I loved that you really tried to figure a way around your dilema.
I did this once after going to Olive Garden and realized I had a 1200 calorie lunch......
