The Snow Report

Let's go back in time . . . a little over 2 weeks ago . . . Sunday, December 14 to be exact! We had a skiff of snow! The kids were thrilled I let them play outside before church. I just new that if I didn't let them play before church it would be all gone before we were home from church. That is just how Washington is! I thought!!!
They canceled/postponed the devotional Blake was to be singing in that evening. The kids went to school on Monday and Tuesday, no problem, there wasn't even a reminder on the ground that it had snowed on Sunday. Then the Arctic Blast (as the news people call it) was all set to come. Then Wednesday happened. I don't even remember if there was snow on the ground, but they canceled school! Thursday there was snow on the ground, but they decided to have school. Friday, snow and no school! From then it continued to snow and snow and snow. Church was canceled on Sunday, as well as the devotional that was postponed from the previous Sunday!
Patients were calling Blake on his cell phone on Sunday letting him know they would not be making there Monday appointments. His office manager was snowed in and not going to be able to come either. So, the office was closed for Monday and Tuesday. Which meant play-time for us! We went sledding at a park near our house. Normally every year we go up to Mt. Hood to sled, but with our 'arctic blast', we were able to sled a few blocks from our house. How fun is that!!!! The kids had a great time! Grace even loves sledding. Although she hates to wear her gloves! Every time we take her out in the snow to play, she keeps her mittens on for a few minutes and then it is bare hands and she refuses to get her mittens back on.
On Tuesday we decided it was time to shovel the driveway. We were able to shovel off big chunks of icey snow and the boys started building a snow fort. We got half way done with the drive way and it was too dark, so we left it for the next day. Of course when we do that we are just tempting the snow to fall again. We woke up to more snow, and our drive way didn't even look like we'd shoveled!!!
With all this SNOW we have had lots of fun! One of my favorite things to do is to take the doggies on a walk with Blake after the little ones are in bed. It is dark out, the stars are great, the lights on all the houses are on, it is just the best! The dogs love the snow too! They are so funny, they have such short legs that their tummies get all wet. I like them to stick to the tire ruts, but they like to go exploring and fall into the snow! One of our neighbors told us to not let the dogs get 'high centered'!!! I laughed sooo hard! They are great little troopers!
Here is Chloe enjoying the snow! After it snowed the first time, and we let the dogs out, we realized that Chloe and Maggie are camoflague! They blend in with the brown fence and the white snow! Who knew dogs were camo!!!!

I am so jealous! We have to drive 2 and a half hours to get to the snow. We play for about 45 minutes and then the 3 little kids have had it and dad and I are tired of the meltdowns so we drive all the way home.

You are so lucky!! I mean to have it right in my front yard or down the street at the park would be so much fun!!! Merry Christmas!! 80D
