Over the river and through the woods to cut down a Christmas tree! Our Dad knows the way to drive the car in the misty misty rain, OH! Over the river and through the woods, Gracey just blew some chunks! It smells in here, but don't you fear . . .
I'll stop the lovely song now! So, sing it back, it sounds pretty good! That was about what happened on Saturday when we went up in the hills/mountains with a group of families to cut down Christmas trees! Thank goodness for Barney hats (to catch most of the barf) and baby wipes to clean up the rest! Yes, Grace got car sick! But she was all cleaned up and ready to search out our perfect (yet charlie brownish) Christmas tree by the time we arrived in the Gifford-Pinchot National Forest!
It was misting, and there were puddles that the boys 'had to' jump in! If you've ever been a little boy you know puddles just call your name and keep calling and calling you until you take advantage of their slosh-ie goodness.
We tromped through the woods to find our tree! We told the kids we were going on a Christmas tree hunt! We found lots of too big ones! A few ones that had 2 tops! Even some that were really super crooked! We finally found 'our tree' and Blake cut it down. Laying on the ground it looked a little more naked than in had in it's forested surroundings! Oh well, we chose it, and it is all ours! We ate our lunches we had packed. By that point the boys and grace were cold and wet. So they ate their lunches in the car. Blake was able to shoot some big scary gun the was way toooooo loud. (He'd love to talk about it just ask him!) And we headed home, with hopes of no more car sickness! We got what we wanted!!
Over all we had a great time!!! I think Gracey getting car sick made it all the more memorable! It has been years since we have cut down a tree at a tree farm. That was always fun, but going to the woods to choose a less than perfect one was the best! I love adventures that make memories! Our tree looks great with the lights on and the ornaments hung by our crazy kids! What a great start to this Christmas season!
