We have a dancer! Have you ever just looked at someone and said she is a dancer? Well, that is my Emily, for me! She started out in dance at age 4 and was oh so cute!!!! But with all our moving and crazy life happenings it took me awhile to get her signed up for dance here in Vancouver. One summer she would dance around the house constantly! I decided to put my stresses away and just get her signed back up! Since then she has been dancing again and loving it! She was in the Nutcracker last year and had a great experience! She wants to be Clara someday. At the studio Emily dances at, they have classes for little ones starting at age 3. Emily has plans for Grace! It is weird to think that in 1 year from now Grace could start a dance class! Emily would be in Heaven!!!
Anyways . . . our exciting dancing news! Emily was thrilled when she found out she could try out for Pacific's dance team! (her middle school) Well, they started the try-out's this week. Monday through Wednesday they learned 2 routines. One Hip Hop and the other Lyrical. She thought the lyrical would be easier since her background is in Ballet, and the Hip Hop harder. But she loved the hip hop one more. Funny things! Well on Thursday they reviewed, and that day after practice she went to a friends house to practice some more! Thanks Morgan!!!! She came home and showed me her dances and was sooooo stoked! The next morning was a different matter! Nerves were at her big time! But, she went to school and I got a call at about 5pm asking me to come see her do the actual try-out. I went (thanks Amy for helping last minute!) There were about 90 girls trying out. They performed the routine's in groups of 4. Emily was number 37!!!! The judges had the dancers do each routine twice and also do left, right, and center splits, as well as a bridge. She did an awesome job! She's my dancer!!! I went back home and she stayed on for the rest of the girls to try-out. It was crazy in that room. The 4 trying out were with the judges behind a partitioned wall, but the rest of the girls could here the music. Every time the music would start all the rest of the girls would jump up and practice the routine! It was so fun to watch! Around 7 she called and said they would be posting the #'s who made it. I rushed down there!!! The coaches said that they took there largest team yet, 55 girls! They put the big yellow sheet of paper with the results on it outside. The girls ran like crazy and mauled that paper. Emily and I hung back and waited for everyone to stop screaming. Went up and Ta Da there it was # 37!!!We had one SMILING GIRL!!! So it is official Emily is on Pacific Middle School Dance Team!!!! She has worked soooo hard this week! We are so proud of her efforts and her courage to do something that was very scary for her! WE LOVE OUR EMILY!!!! WA HOOOOO!
